Center for Supporters of Human Rights, Free Tribune of Lawyers
Free Tribune of Lawyers released a short statement, congratulating Nasrin Sotoudeh for reducing the sentence for the suspension of her law license from three years to nine months. This is a result of her resilience and hope to return to her career as a lawyer.
According to our information, Reza Khandan , the spouse of Nasrin Soroudeh, published on his Facebook page that the Lawyers Disciplinary Court has rejected the request of Tehran prosecutor to suspend the license of the lawyer, Nasrin Sotoudeh. The verdict was announced on August 30: “Temporary suspension of Ms. Nasrin Sotoudeh were not subjected to the Bar Association Disciplinary Court and rejected.”
The complete statement of Lawyers’ Free Tribune is as follows:
“Strength and hope” are the words that represent a light shining the path of protest against injustice and lawlessness, such as a revitalizing balm which heals the soul and spirit for the pain of the protesters and human right defenders, caused by the roughness of this path.
Reducing Nasrin Sotoudeh’s three year ban for practicing law, to nine months, can be attributed to ruggedness to withstand hardship and hope to achieve results. The sentence of deprivation of employment, for any citizen of this border, even for a few minutes, is definitely condemned and reviled. Our colleague Nasrin Sotoudeh’s resistance, against the unjust sentence of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, and subsequently the Lawyers Disciplinary Court, is commended. We congratulate this courageous and honorable lawyer on reducing the sentence and we are hopeful that one day, not too far away, we will see the abolition of discrimination and injustice in society.
